    "Amazing first time to GBR!"
We did a privately guided dive with Blue Dive Port Douglas, which I highly recommend but this is about Poseidon's boat and crew. My husband and 3 girls did the diving, I stayed at the surface and snorkeled. The catalyst for our trip to Australia (and we are coming far!) was to dive the Great Barrier Reef before it's too late. We've heard so much about climate change and bleaching of the reefs and how everything is dead, blah, blah, blah. Part of that is true: yes, when the waters get too warm, there is bleaching--but there's supposed to be. We went first week of August and the reefs (actually, to my own surprise) highly exceeded my expectations; everything was so vibrant. Fish of every color, corals as well. Some coral did have minor white tips but they were infrequent. Saw a 6-7 ft barracuda being very still scared me to death. The sheer number of different colors and sizes of fish were mind-blowing. The giant clams... Blue Dive is a private company that uses Poseidon boat and crew to take their guests to the outer reefs. On the day we went, there were maybe 60-70 on board. You go to the outer reefs to 3 different locations to snorkel/dive. Takes about 1 1/2 hrs to get to first reef, then much shorter to the other 2 sites. I have extreme motion sickness and this ride out can definitely make you sick. I used Bonine (generic is meclizine) and works far better than Dramamine and lasts 24 hrs without drowsiness. I took one and never felt anything. One of my girls sometimes gets sick and she didn't take one on the way out and hurled. She took one with lunch for on the way back and felt nothing. Takes about 20-30 minutes for it to work. While my daughter was sick, the crew were absolutely amazing; about 10 different crew members walking by her always asked if she needed anything else or feeling better. I already talked about the 3 different reef sites; you snorkel or dive at all 3. Since I was a snorkeler, I didn't have my own guide as with my divers who had a personal Blue Dive guide with them but I was totally fine on my own. Actually less restricting. The crew doesn't get in the water with you but they give you a briefing about the reef you're in and where you're likely to see different things. You don't have to use life vests if you're comfortable without--I used a noodle which they have plenty of. The included buffet lunch was great; I kept going back for more prawns. You do have to pay for soda/beer but they have juice, cold water. Morning tea/coffee as well as afternoon desserts included. The crew really took care of their guests, regardless if you were going with the Poseidon or private guide. Shoutout to Karl (we loved Ferberger!) and Darwie, who scared me into wearing a wetsuit, which I'm glad I did čÖé These 2 guys, and the rest of the crew, made for a great day out on the Great Barrier Reef.

"Great day out, well worth the money."
This was the highlight of our trip to north qld. The boat is 5 star and the crew are fantastic and very knowledgeable about the reef and animals. Lunch was fantastic. We saw sharks, an eel, a nemo fish, a lion fish and many more fish! We absolutely loved this tour and will be back to do it again. Recommend it to anyone wanting a great day out in Port Douglas. It's worth the drive from Cairns too! Special mention to Jai who snorkeled with us, was full of interesting facts and information and told us where to find nemo.

    "Best Great Barrier Reef Experience"
Went out on this dive boat on two days. Very professional crew. Visited three different dive and snorkelling sites each time. Beautiful fish and coral seen on each occasion. This was the experience of a lifetime.
