    "Good for less confident swimmers"
We booked the Big Cat trip to Green Island as it was half the price of the tours to the outer reef and my partner is not a strong swimmer, so thought this would be a good compromise that would enable him to experience a bit of sea life without swimming out of his depth. We were not disappointed! Plenty of fish to see just a short swim from the beach, particularly next to and under the jetty. We saw an octopus/squid and stingray as well as a number of multicoloured fish. We also paid extra to do the semi submersible - although we saw a turtle, the trip was pretty short and not really worth the extra. But the rest of our day on the island was excellent.

"Great trip but limited by the weather"
We went to Green Island with Big Cat... huge group of people but there were plenty of people to help and show you where to go. I did a dive and Mex was amazing... he saw a shark, turtle and huge clams. Unfortunately the weather turned on us and it rained for over two hours which was a problem because the island is set up for beaches and sun, not much cover for the rain. The water was nice and warm even during the rain. We opted out of the buffet and the hamburgers looked amazing at the cafe. We did the semisubmersible which was really nice. My mom whom doesn't dive really enjoyed seeing the views and fish. At the end they fed the fish and discussed which ones we saw. Ride back was sunny and beautiful. An amazing experience even with a rough middle portion.

"Crowded but great snorkelling if you know where to look"
The island itself is worth the half hour or so to walk around, and outside the main plaza there were not many people. A lot of reviews here are disappointed in the snorkelling. My hotel owner gave a tip which proved brilliant. The jetty on which the boat arrives forms a dog leg, and the area inside the bend has a wonderful variety of colourful corals and countless different species of fish. Haven't done the outer reef yet, but to date this is the best snorkelling I've done. It's too far off shore for poor swimmers so numbers in the area were very limited (6 or 7 others) by comparison to ther places on the island. If you only have limited time and can swim ok, or just want to do a half day, this is well worth the trip. Like everything else in the area, the boat ride itself is a rip off but you have no choice ($90 for 2 x 45 minute rides). Boat is comfortable enough and didn't sink, but rip off is so excessive the boat probably not even worth one star.
